Sebastien (winner of La Solitaire du Figaro), tell us about your first steps, your beginnings?

passion for competition

I started cruising every year on my father’s boat, a 920 feeling. At first I was just interested in the atmosphere in the harbors, meetings, maneuvers and sleeping in the boat. I found myself then a passion for competition at the age of 12 in optimist. 

Seasickness do you know this feeling ? What weather conditions have marked you on Figaro ?

20nds speed in the night, it was awesome

I have the chance to never been sick, I hope I will never know this feeling! The breeze sessions in 40 / 45nds under spinnaker at over 20nds speed in the night, it was awesome!

Your most beautiful experience ? The tour of Glénans Island I suppose? (laugh)

I put so much energy

It’s just arrived, my victory on the Solitaire Figaro 2018! I put so much energy into this objectiv. This victory is an important step in the life of a sailor.

I heard that your favorite dish on board are candies! Good or bad?

I love sweets but precisely I forbid myself to take some on board otherwise I eat that and the consequence is that I sleep too long. I try to cheer myself up with healthier food.

Speaking of broken crust, tell us more about your preparation! What is your little secret?  Do not reveal everything, guards some for the Vendée Globe!

Simple but not that easy

I try not to eat too many cakes and keep a biological rhythm, that is to say to respect the meal times. Simple but not that easy when you’re on the ocean fighting against friends !

Vendée Globe, your next goal ! A new adventure with new sponsors ? Do we have the right to a small information preview on the manufacture of your Imoca?

The boat Arkea Paprec is already under construction. The adventure is very rewarding for me and can not wait to see the boat running !
