Discover how Dream Racer Boats is revolutionizing boat interiors with its innovative kits

Everyone is familiar with ready-to-assemble furniture kits, but when it comes to refurbishing the interior of a boat… that’s where Dream Racer Boats excels. The company specializes in refit and restoration of boats and is based in the industrial zone of Villeneuve-Braouic, Quimperlé (Finistère).

Thibaud Ramond, the founder and CEO of Dream Racer Boats, aims to ride the wave of outfitting long-distance and workboats.

To expand their proven expertise beyond racing boats like the Figaro 2, his design partner, Yves Le Reste, takes charge of bringing owners’ dreams to life, even from a distance. Alongside them, Gaetan Beaumont, with a background in mechanics and production, left the agri-food industry to design electrical and water system plans.

Yves Le Reste and Thibaud Ramond Innovate at Dream Racer Boats, Offering Custom Interior Kits for Boats to Individuals. | OUEST-FRANCE

Based in Quimperlé (Finistère), Dream Racer Boats was founded in 2018 with the mission of giving a second life to racing boats. Today, the company is expanding its focus to the refurbishment of private boats, offering plans and construction kits.

Conceived and designed in Quimperlé

Everything is conceived and designed in Quimperlé in the engineering office and executed… elsewhere in the world, in Japan or Quebec. “It’s a relationship of trust that is established with the client,” assures Yves Le Reste. As the study progresses, the client receives a link to view the three-dimensional project and request adaptations if necessary.

Currently, the team is working on a Figaro 2, whose interior needs to be reinstalled for a Japanese client who wants “a comfortable layout while maintaining lightness for racing.

The team proposes “something easy to install, with local products that he will find on-site. The study is done here, and he does the assembly there.

To ensure that the client assembles everything correctly, he will have precise plans, a list of materials, from screws to glue, the necessary tools, and an assembly plan. “Our goal is to provide an individual with access to a professional shipyard,” emphasizes Thibaud Ramond.

A NICHE MARKET

By positioning itself in the market for renovating private boats, Dream Racer Boats is betting on the future. “Boat refitting is a niche market, and there is room for growth.

The company intends to broaden its skills beyond just Figaro 2 boats.

They have already renovated about a dozen of these boats out of the thirty listed. “We don’t want to be limited to Figaro 2. We want to go further and position ourselves in the long-distance travel boat and work boat market.

Innovative Projects by Dream Racer Boats

The design team is currently working on a workboat that will be built at the Méta Yacht shipyard near Lyon.

It’s a boat for scientists on Lake Geneva. We offer layout suggestions to optimize the spaces, cabinets, sinks… We provide the plans and a flat wood kit.

Also in development is a boat for a client from Quebec who wants to transport tourists to the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. “It will be constantly in a very cold zone and is designed to navigate through ice,” says Thibaud Ramond. Here again, the Lyon-based shipyard, specialized in thick aluminum, will be the builder.

In the shipyard at Villeneuve-Braouic, the refurbishment of two boats is taking shape.

One is intended for an individual who loves sailing “where there’s no one around.” That destination is Antarctica, with very particular accommodations. The other is for a retired couple from Bordeaux who wishes to embark on a world tour.
