Former owner of Eric Delamarre’s Figaro 2 (our second yacht refit in 2019), this racing owner consults us for a second project focused on an approach to reducing the weight and improving the performance of his Wauquiez sailboat, a fast cruising sailboat.
It all starts with a conversion of the interior woodwork and certain exterior parts to carbon fiber, thus meeting the ambition of an experienced owner.
Initially, certain original doors made of plywood covered with a fine type of wood were replaced by doors made of sandwich panels made from a foam core and carbon fiber skins. A considerable weight gain, going from 8.4kg to 3.2kg per door.
Other doors were replaced by textile doors, selected by the customer.
