A SCIENTIFIC BOAT FOR LAKE LEMAN
A ship designed for the research teams working on board
The vessel is a 13.5-metre hybrid-propulsion monohull (division 245), carrying out research and sampling in lake and inland water environments.
With a cruising speed of 8 knots and a fully loaded speed of 13.5 knots, the vessel is designed for outings of up to 48 hours. It will operate throughout the year, mainly on Lake Geneva.
Although the apparent design of the vessel, intended to carry twelve passengers, may appear simple, in reality it presented considerable challenges in carrying out the studies, due to the need to integrate numerous facilities. For the personnel and their comfort first of all, with the integration of a room and a compartment for six beds. Scientists will be required to spend nights on board the vessel. In terms of research, the ship has two scientific laboratories (dry and wet) and the equipment needed to carry out the studies.
The vessel also offers researchers the ability to launch various types of equipment into the water, and to raise them in the best possible way. Particular attention has been paid to the design, layout and installation of the above elements to optimise the user experience.
