RETHINK. REBUILD. REFIT. A true eco-friendly approach.
March saw the arrival of a 2012 Beneteau Oceanis 41 in the Quimperlé workshops. This 12m monohull has an unusual history. Indeed, this disaster-stricken yacht suffered a fire a few years ago. It was at the Paris Nautic Boat Show that we met the new owner and director of the Marine Composite shipyard. The yacht will be converted into a unique charter yacht.
This sailing enthusiast seized the opportunity and decided to personalize the interior, to allow a curious and seasoned public to sail, through the rental of this unique sailboat. He discovered the Dream Racer Boats approach. The DRB CONCEPT design office quickly began the design phase. The objective was to create a refined, easy-to-maintain interior, while optimizing performance gains.

Installed close to the harbor of Vannes (Britany, France) since 2005, finot-conq perpetuates since 2009 the activities of groupe Finot. They specialize in development of new boats and design (both crusing and racing, as well as one-off yachts), and are responsible for the maintenance of existing designs.
In a context of energy transition and revaluation of end-of-life products, this upcycling project fits perfectly into a truly eco-responsible approach. The work carried out by the Dream Racer Boats teams on this conversion demonstrates DRB’s ambition to promote the refit and conversion boats.

This project is part of a sustainable development approach in which Dream Racer Boats has developed a production method adapted to refit and the creation of unique pleasure boats.
The Oceanis 41: an attractive, large-series sailing boat
The Oceanis 41 offers all the comfort and performance of a cruising unit. Its chine hull offers interesting space inside, and pleasant stability when sailing. A very well thought out, functional sailboat with interesting nautical performances. We have placed large focus on this last point. Indeed, we have sought to minimize the use of lining and dressing with the aim of saving weight, and increasing durability and performance.

To conclude, in terms of materials and finishing, we succeeded to preserve the identity of the boat. An elegant boat where the presence of well-worked, solid wood evokes construction quality. The final interior design respects the ambiance of a cruise ship, by bringing more brightness with large, easy-to-maintain surfaces, finished with EU oak trims, and profiles coated with a natural-effect matte varnish.
