Dream Racer Boats presents its new products, based on equipment for the Figaro 2. This yacht, designed by Marc Lombard and built by the Bénéteau shipyard in France, was designed for the Solitaire du Figaro. From 2003 to 2018, it has proved its worth in the hands of many renowned skippers.
At the start of this year, we are welcoming back the former Figaro 2s from TEAM MACIF ocean racing. These two boats, FRA 79 and FRA 94, are configured for a new sailing programme. One will have to be prepared for the Cap Martinique 2021 race, and the second for a race-cruise project. Comfort features will be added to the boats, while retaining their performance. Lightness and removable furniture are the order of the day! New equipment has been designed in our workshops. We’ll be presenting these new features for 2021 on board these boats shortly.
FIGARO IN A FEW WORDS
Stars and skippers’ names on the coachroof make these boats a little different…
Figaro 79, Auremat
Eric PERON, Paul MEILHAT and Martin LE PAPE have sailed on the Figaro 79, AUREMAT.
We also find Yoann RICHOMME. Sailing the Figaro 79, this skipper won the Solitaire du Figaro in 2016 and 2019, finished 2nd in the Solo Concarneau in 2016, and 3rd in the Elite French Single-handed Offshore Racing Championship in 2015.
Figaro 94, Cauliflower
François GABART, Gérald VENIARD, Fabien DELAHAYE and Charlie DALIN have all sailed on this boat.
Charlie DALIN experienced a real turning point in his career in 2014: he won his first Elite French Single-handed Offshore Racing Championship title and became Skipper MACIF 2015. It was from this new title that the story began between the skipper and the Figaro 94, Chou-fleur. For 4 years, he enjoyed a string of victories and podium finishes. Indeed, he finished 2nd in the Solitaire du Figaro in 2015 and 2016. He also finished 3rd in the same race in 2017 and 2018.
He also won his second Elite French Solo Ocean Racing Championship title in 2016.
Charlie DALIN, Vendée Globe 2020
The adventure with MACIF is far from over for Charlie DALIN. In spring 2018, APIVIA MACIF Mutuelle, announced the construction of a brand new Imoca for Charlie DALIN to take part in the 2020 Vendée Globe.
Thanks to its experience and skills, Mer Concept was involved in the design and construction of the Imoca APIVIA. Based in Port-La-Forêt, the company was founded in 2006 by François GABART, winner of the 2012 Vendée Globe.
Charlie DALIN was the first to cross the finish line for this 9th edition. Yannick BESTAVEN crossed the line in third place, but was awarded time compensation for his part in rescuing Kévin ESCOFFIER. We congratulate him on a well-deserved first place. Read his interview with L’Equipe below.

Equipment to suit your needs
The concept of (Re)thinking. (Re)building. (Re)fit out is to adapt a boat to a new sailing programme, while retaining the boat’s originality and performance. We offer you an à la carte service. To simplify the refit process, we have developed and continue to create refit kits, equipment and accessories. Today, we offer a Figaro 2 catalogue in which each module can be customised.
Some of the new features for 2021 include the dolphin keeper kit, the removable davit kit, the chart table kit associated with the instrument panel, and the textile equipment and wardrobe configurator.

These kits have also been developed for DIY (Do It Yourself) applications, with the aim of meeting requests from far away.
Finally, for made-to-measure projects, the virtual simulation service helps you to visualise your future equipment or boat interior.
We’ll be bringing you all the latest news in the next few bulletins, so stay tuned!
