OPIUM 39
In search of optimisation through the integration of high-performance materials
Inspired by the 60′ Open ocean-racing yachts, the Opium 39 offers unique sensations at sea, as well as providing a high level of comfort on board for this category of yacht.
Her planing, powerful hull guarantees performance in all points of sail, while her elegantly curved deck and vast cockpit are ideal for all manoeuvres. The carefully selected rigging and fittings are designed for long-distance cruising.
An updated interior for a racing programme
Interior
Former owner of Eric Delamarre’s Figaro 2 (our second project in 2019), this regatta owner is consulting us on a second project to reduce the weight and improve the performance of his Wauquiez, a fast cruising yacht.
It all began with the conversion of the interior woodwork and some exterior parts to carbon fibre, in response to the ambition of an experienced owner. As a first step, some of the original doors made of plywood coated with a fine wood species were replaced by doors made of sandwich panels with a foam core and carbon fibre skins.
This represents a considerable weight saving, from 8.4kg to 3.2kg per door. Other doors were replaced with textile doors selected by the customer.
