Rethink. Rebuild. Refit. a truly eco-responsible approach
L’Oceanis 41 arrives at Dream Racer Boats shipyard
March saw the arrival of a 2012 Beneteau Oceanis 41 in the Quimperlé workshops. This 12m monohull has an unusual history. Indeed, this disaster-stricken yacht suffered a fire a few years ago. It was at the Paris Boat Show that we met the new owner and director of the Marine Composite shipyard. The yacht will be converted into a unique charter yacht.
This sailing enthusiast seized the opportunity and decided to customise the interior to enable a curious and experienced public to sail on a unique sailing yacht. He discovered the Dream Racer Boats approach. The DRB CONCEPT design office quickly began the design phase. The aim was to create a streamlined, easy-to-maintain interior, while optimising performance.
Based in the outer harbour of Vannes, finot-conq has been continuing the finot group’s activities in the design and development of new boats (cruisers, racers and yachts) since 2009, as well as looking after the maintenance of existing models.
Against a backdrop of energy transition and the recycling of end-of-life products, this overcycling project fits in perfectly with a truly eco-responsible approach. The work carried out by the Dream Racer Boats teams on this conversion demonstrates DRB’s ambition to promote the refit and conversion of boats.

This project is part of a sustainable development approach in which Dream Racer Boats has developed a production method adapted to refit and the creation of unique pleasure boats.

Finally, the Océanis 41 offers all the comfort and performance of a cruising yacht. Its chine hull provides plenty of interior space and pleasant stability when sailing. A very well thought-out, functional yacht, with interesting nautical performances. We’ve spent a lot of time on this last point. We’ve tried to minimise the use of fittings and trim in the interests of weight savings, durability and performance.
To conclude, in terms of materials and finish, we have endeavoured to preserve the identity of the boat. It’s an elegant boat, where the presence of solid, well-worked wood evokes the quality of the construction. The resulting interior design respects the ambience of a cruise ship, bringing in more light with large, easy-to-maintain surfaces finished with fargues and profiles in EU oak with a natural-effect matt varnish.
